Bullets extend Babatunde loan deal

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have agreed with Venda Football Club to extend the loan deal for Babatunde Adepoju.

The Nigerian forward’s stay had initially ended on 31 December 2024, but he will now remain with The People’s Team until 31 December 2025.

Last season, Babatunde made 41 appearances in Bullets colours, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists.

Before his departure to South Africa, the 29-year-old, who joined Maule from rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in 2021, had made 46 appearances for the club, with 44 goal contributions.

Said Babatunde:

“It means a lot to me because this team has given me everything I needed as a player, has revived me different times, not [only] once, but twice. So, definitely, I still want to be here as long as the team wants me to stay and I am ready to give it all.

“After a good season [last year] my parent club wanted me [back in South Africa], but since Bullets came knocking saying they still want me around, I had a meeting with my former club telling them I still want to be here. Like I said, Bullets has made me who I am today, has given me everything, so anytime the team wants me, definitely, I will still be around.

“Yes, locally teams came knocking, but this team [Bullets] will always be my priority over everything. As we all know 2023 wasn’t a good year for me, it was a bad year for me, but I came here last year, the team revived me, I got my scoring boot, so I’d definitely want this year to be better than last year.

“For the continuity of the better things that have been happening in this team, we just need to work hand-in-hand, more especially us as senior players we groom the younger ones who are coming, we tell them the culture of the team, what’s needed to be done, how this team needs to win; those are the things we need to install into the young players, they need to know what it means playing for this team and what it can it give to play [for Bullets] as an individual.

“To the Bullets supporters out there, the journey continues here in [FCB] Nyasa Big Bullets and me as an individual, my fellow teammates, we are going to do everything in our best to take the team back where it belongs; winning trophies, being recognized in Africa and I think that should be our goal for this year.”

Said Peter Mponda:

“Once again, a very good signing for the team. I was worried hearing some rumours that we might not acquire his services because of his contract with Venda. The CEO worked so hard to get him on board, I’m very happy that he has signed for us, he will be with us for this season. He has helped the team in many areas, scoring goals, working hard, his work rate is very good for the team.”
