FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves returned to the summit of the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League with a commanding 5-0 victory over Mwanza Stars on Sunday morning at Kamuzu Stadium.
Bouncing back from a frustrating 1-1 draw against Zingwangwa United the previous weekend, the young Bullets side put in a dominant shift, with goals from Prince Chiumia, Misheck Billiat—his first of the season—and second-half strikes from Enos Hendeman, Movic Banda, and Kondwani Tebulo sealing the win in style.
Speaking after the emphatic result, head coach Heston Munthali praised his team’s attitude and reaction to last week’s disappointment.
“Winning 5-0 looks easy on paper, but it wasn’t,” he said. “The boys really worked hard for this. After last week’s draw, they came into this one with the right mindset. We were attacking and creating chances against Zingwangwa, but we didn’t take them. Today, we did—and that’s the big difference.”
He was also encouraged by how the players executed their game plan and stuck to their identity.
“Once we got the first goals, you could see the confidence return. We started playing our brand of possession football,” he added. “In training, we told the boys to move on from Zingwangwa and look forward. Their response was spot on, and the result says it all.”
With the result, Bullets Reserves now sit top of the table with 16 points, making a bold statement in the title race with their hunger and firepower.
