FCB Nyasa Big Bullets made it eight consecutive wins in all competitions with a commanding 3-0 victory over Mafco FC in a TNM Super League midweek clash at Kamuzu Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
A first-half brace from Hassan Kajoke and a second-half strike from substitute Babatunde Adepoju sealed the result as The People’s Team extended their lead at the top of the standings to seven points.
Strong Start From The Hosts
The afternoon began at a measured tempo under the scorching Blantyre sun, with both sides finding their rhythm in the opening exchanges.
Paul Master tested Owen Mbale with a thunderous effort midway through the first half after being set up by Chawanangwa Gumbo, while Kajoke and Ephraim Kondowe also came close but lacked the finishing touch.
Bullets’ persistence paid off in the 37th minute when Kajoke broke the deadlock, finishing calmly inside the box after a brilliant through ball from Master.
Just before the break, The People’s Team doubled the advantage from the penalty spot. Ephraim Kondowe was fouled in the area, and Kajoke stepped up to send Mbale the wrong way, giving Bullets a 2-0 halftime lead.
Babatunde Seals The Victory
At the start of the second half, Peter Mponda introduced Yamikani Mologeni and Babatunde Adepoju for Peter Banda and Kondowe to inject fresh energy.
The two substitutes immediately combined well in the attacking third, with Babatunde coming close early on before finally getting his reward in the 77th minute.
Sean McBrams, who had replaced Bright Munthali earlier, produced a dazzling run down the right flank, beating his marker and squaring the ball for Babatunde to slot home from close range — 3-0, game over.
Mafco tried to find a consolation through their captain Paul Ndhlovu but were denied by a sharp save from Innocent Nyasulu, who preserved yet another clean sheet for the league leaders.
What It Means
The win lifts FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to 49 points from 20 games, stretching their lead to seven points ahead of second-placed Mighty Wanderers, who play on Wednesday away to Blue Eagles and have two games in hand, including Sunday’s Blantyre Derby.
It was another statement performance from Peter Mponda’s men, who continue to build momentum in their pursuit of an 18th league title.
What’s Next
The People’s Team return to action this weekend with a massive TNM Super League clash against city rivals Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium — the first of two derbies in six days, with another meeting scheduled in the FDH Bank Cup semifinal on 1 November.
