FCB Nyasa Big Bullets forward Hassan Kajoke has expressed delight after returning to form with a brace and a Player of the Match display in Tuesday’s 3-0 TNM Super League victory over Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium.
Kajoke, who netted in the 37th and 45th minutes to inspire Maule to an eighth consecutive win across all competitions, said the performance was a huge boost to his confidence after a challenging spell earlier in the season.
“I’m so excited to have won the Player of the Match award. Accolades like these are a testament that one is improving,” Kajoke told club media after the game. “I can now say that my confidence is getting back on course. I know I was not doing well lately, but I can tell that I’m getting there.”
The 27-year-old striker has now scored in three consecutive matches, having also found the back of the net in the 2-1 league win over Silver Strikers and the 2-1 FDH Bank Cup quarterfinal victory against Kamuzu Barracks.
Boost before the Derby
With the Blantyre derby against Mighty Wanderers coming up this Sunday, Kajoke described the midweek win as an important morale boost for the team.
“Going into Sunday’s derby, this win is a big boost. We needed to win this game against Mafco, and we did it convincingly. Everyone always hopes to win the derby — such games are crucial, and we need to stay fully focused and work hard to get a result,” he said.
Eyes on the Title
Asked about Bullets’ title ambitions, Kajoke said the focus remains on consistency and maintaining momentum as the championship race intensifies.
“We can’t say much about winning the league now, but it’s our aim to reclaim the title this season,” he stated. “We just have to keep working hard and keep winning matches.”
National Team Aspirations
Kajoke, who last featured for the Malawi national team in 2022, also revealed his desire to earn a recall to the Flames setup.
“I believe with the way I’m performing now, there’s hope that I can be considered again for the national team,” he said. “That’s my dream — to represent my country again.”
Personal Targets
The forward has now scored six league goals, one in the Airtel Top 8, and one in the FDH Bank Cup this season. He remains focused on achieving his personal milestone for the campaign.
“My goal this season is to score at least ten goals. I’m working hard to reach that target,” Kajoke added.
Kajoke and his teammates will now shift focus to Sunday’s TNM Super League Blantyre derby against Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium — the first of two derby meetings within a week, as the rivals will also face off in the FDH Bank Cup semifinal on 1 November.
