Easter Zimba has been appointed to officiate Thursday’s TNM Super League clash between Blue Eagles and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
With Mighty Wanderers currently leading the TNM Super League by two points, The People’s Team will head into Thursday’s clash determined to claim all three points and keep pressure on their rivals in the title race.
Bullets’ chances of reclaiming top spot midweek will, however, depend on Wanderers’ result against Ekhaya FC on Wednesday afternoon.
The midweek showdown comes at a crucial moment for Peter Mponda’s side, who are eager to respond following back-to-back defeats to their city rivals — a 3-0 league loss and a 1-0 FDH Bank Cup semifinal exit.
A strong performance at Nankhaka would provide the perfect statement of intent as Bullets push to finish the season strongly.
Referee – Easter Zimba
The Central Region-based Zimba is one of Malawi’s seasoned referees, having officiated numerous high-profile and Bullets matches in his career, both as a centre referee and as a fourth official.
This season, he has already handled five of our fixtures, including the 1-0 league opener victory against Silver Strikers in April and the 2-1 Airtel Top 8 semifinal win over Karonga United in June.
Assistant Referee 1 – Samson Wasili
Wasili, a Lilongwe-based official, is quickly becoming a familiar name in matches involving The People’s Team.
Thursday’s fixture will be his third Bullets assignment of the season, having previously run the lines in the league match against Dedza Dynamos in May and the FDH Bank Cup quarterfinal win over Kamuzu Barracks last month.
Assistant Referee 2 – Strauss Magwaza
Magwaza, an official from Dedza, will on Thursday handle his second Bullets match in his refereeing career.
His first involvement came on 14 December 2024 when he served as second assistant referee during Bullets’ 3-1 victory over MMF Marines in the Castel Challenge Cup quarterfinals at Dedza Stadium.
Fourth Official – Charles Chimimba
Chimimba will be on fourth official duties for the midweek fixture, marking his first Bullets match of the season.
His last involvement in a Bullets game came on 6 April last year when we drew 1-1 away to Dedza Dynamos in the league.
As fourth official, Chimimba has handled two Bullets matches while taking charge as the centre referee once — a goalless draw away to Blue Eagles at Nankhaka in 2023.
Match Assessor – Simon Jovinala
Jovinala, who hasn’t officiated many Bullets fixtures, will assess the performance of the officiating team.
Thursday’s clash will be his second Bullets game overall, having first handled our Airtel Top 8 semifinal against Karonga United at Bingu National Stadium on 21 June this year.
