First Team: Huge Three Points Away in Karonga

Peter Mponda’s men maintained their place at the top of the TNM Super League with a crucial 2-0 victory over Karonga United on Saturday at Karonga Stadium, taking their tally to 59 points from 26 matches. It was another composed performance on the road in the Northern Region, where The People’s Team have shown discipline and efficiency in recent weeks.

They remain level on points with second-placed Mighty Wanderers, who beat Ekhaya FC on Sunday afternoon, but The People’s Team stay ahead courtesy of a superior goal difference.

Silver Strikers sit third with 53 points and a game in hand after demolishing relegated Songwe Border United, while Civil Service United moved into fourth on 41 points following their win over our midweek opponents, Moyale Barracks. Karonga United complete the top five with 40 points.

With one more assignment in the North, Mponda’s men now turn their focus to Wednesday’s clash against Moyale at Mzuzu Stadium, aiming to stretch and solidify their lead as the title race heats up.

Women’s Team: Chombo’s Side Returns With a Draw

Maggie Chombo’s side resumed NBM Women’s Premiership action after the international break and settled for a 1-1 draw against MDF Lioness on Saturday at Mpira Stadium. The result keeps them fourth with 19 points from 12 matches, level with Lioness but ahead on goal difference.

Silver Strikers Ladies remain firmly in control at the top with 33 points after beating Ascent Soccer Academy 2-0. Ascent are second on 26 points, while Mighty Wanderers Queens follow in third with 20 points after their win over Topik Academy.
