Inside Bullets: What’s In Store This Week

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head into a busy week of action, with cup football, youth league clashes, and team preparations taking centre stage across The People’s Team.

With the senior league campaign behind us, focus shifts to cup ambitions, youth development, and team preparations. From a knockout trip up north to Under-19 league action and planned downtime for the Reserves and Women’s sides, the week promises progress and purpose at every level.

First Team: Cup Mission Begins Up North

After missing out on the TNM Super League title, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets turn their full attention to the Castel Challenge Cup, determined to make a strong statement when they face recently relegated Songwe Border United in the Round of 32 on Sunday at 14:30 at Karonga Stadium.

The cup presents an opportunity to secure a second piece of silverware this season, following our third successive Airtel Top 8 Cup triumph in July. The fixture will also mark Interim Head Coach Gilbert Chirwa’s first cup match in charge since taking over at the helm of the Malawi giants.

All eyes will be on the former Bullets and Flames defender as he leads The People’s Team into what promises to be an exciting cup run.

Under-19: Back in League Action

Our Under-19s return to action this weekend with a home fixture against Agumbala FC on Saturday at 13:30 at Mpira Stadium in the Blantyre District Youth Football League.

The game follows a 2–2 draw against Manchester Motor Spares on Sunday, when Yamikani Fodya’s boys let a 2–0 lead slip to settle for a point, missing a chance to move into second place on the FCB Katswiri Under-19 BDYFL log table.

Rivals Wanderers Youth lead with 58 points, followed by Ekhaya Youth in second with 48 points, while Bullets remain third with 47 points. Our youngsters will aim to bounce back, tighten defensively, and continue their push for a top-two finish.

Reserves: Well-Earned Break

The Reserves have wrapped up their fixtures in the 2025/26 ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League and entered a well-earned break.

With other teams still in action, Heston Munthali’s squad can take pride in a season of growth, progress, and a solid third-place finish.

The campaign ended with a 0–0 draw against Mighty Wanderers Reserves in the Blantyre mini-derby at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday. The result secured third place with 56 points, three behind leaders Chilobwe United and a point behind second-placed Ekhaya Reserves, both of whom still have one game remaining.

Women: League Break This Weekend

There is no NMB Women’s Premiership action this weekend, with all teams on a scheduled break.

Last weekend, Bullets Women completed a double in the Blantyre women’s derby, defeating Mighty Wanderers Queens 1–0 at Mpira Stadium on Saturday. The victory cemented Maggie Chombo’s side in third place with 31 points from 16 games, keeping them firmly in contention for a strong league finish.

Maule Ladies will resume league duty next week on John Chilembwe Day, hosting Civil Service Ladies at Mpira Stadium in their penultimate fixture, aiming to maintain momentum and finish the season on a high note.

From knockout action in Karonga to youth league battles at home and continued preparation across all departments, the focus remains clear at The People’s Team — competing, developing, and pushing for success together.
