Preview: Reserves eye home response vs Nchima

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Nchima United in the SRFA FINCA Division One League at Mpira Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The young Bullets head into the fixture looking to bounce back from consecutive league defeats and will be eager to make home advantage count against a Nchima side that arrives in Blantyre in good form.

FORM GUIDE

Bullets Reserves are looking to halt a run of consecutive league defeats after narrow losses to Nyambadwe United and Immigration FC.

Despite the results, the young Bullets have shown encouraging signs, creating numerous scoring opportunities while remaining competitive throughout both matches. Sunday’s fixture presents another opportunity to turn encouraging performances into a positive result.

Nchima United, meanwhile, travel to Blantyre on the back of a 2-1 victory over Chiradzulu United and will be looking to build on that momentum as they continue an encouraging start to life in the SRFA FINCA Division One League.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Sunday’s fixture will mark the first-ever league meeting between Bullets Reserves and Nchima United.

The visitors secured promotion from the Division Two League at the end of last season and now prepare for their maiden competitive meeting with the young Bullets.

TEAM NEWS

Bullets Reserves have been dealt several selection setbacks ahead of Sunday’s encounter.

Kondwani Mhone remains sidelined after suffering an injury against Nyambadwe United, while Zaneel Jussab and Verson Mudu were both forced off during last week’s defeat to Immigration FC. Midfielder Francis Malikebu also misses the match through illness.

Despite those absentees, coach Henry Kabichi is confident his side can produce the right response.

TACTICAL FOCUS

Bullets Reserves will be looking to build on the attacking intent they displayed during the second half against Immigration FC while improving their defensive concentration after conceding early goals in recent matches.

Home advantage should allow the young Bullets to dictate possession and create chances, but converting opportunities and maintaining their defensive organisation will be crucial against a confident Nchima United side.

COACH’S THOUGHTS

Kabichi says his players have responded positively in training following recent results and believes Sunday’s fixture presents an opportunity to get the campaign back on track.

“We are coming from difficult results and this is an important game for us because we want to return to winning ways.

“The players have worked hard throughout the week and we have focused on correcting some of the mistakes that affected us in the previous matches.”

Kabichi expects another difficult test but believes those available are capable of stepping up.

“Nchima United are playing with confidence and they will come here motivated after winning their last match, so we expect a tough game.

“We have some important players unavailable through injuries, but this gives an opportunity to others to step up and show their quality. We are playing at home and our target is to collect maximum points.”

WHAT’S AT STAKE

Bullets Reserves will be looking to avoid a third successive league defeat when they welcome Nchima United to Mpira Stadium.

After encouraging performances against Nyambadwe United and Immigration FC yielded no points, Kabichi’s side will be determined to convert their displays into three points and regain momentum in the SRFA FINCA Division One League.

Nchima United, meanwhile, will be aiming to build on their recent victory over Chiradzulu United and continue their encouraging start following promotion from the Division Two League.
