Match Officials: Kamuzu Barracks vs Bullets

The Super League of Malawi has confirmed the officiating team for Sunday’s FDH Bank Premiership encounter between Kamuzu Barracks and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The People’s Team return to league action under head coach Wedson Nyirenda as they seek a return to winning ways against the soldiers.

Godfrey Nkhakananga has been named referee for the contest and will be assisted by Samuel Fudzulani and Strauss Magwaza.

Lackson Chunda will serve as fourth official, while Edward Kambatuwa has been appointed match assessor.

Below is a closer look at the officials selected for Sunday’s fixture.

Godfrey Nkhakananga, Referee

Nkhakananga will take charge of Sunday’s encounter at Civo Stadium.

The experienced official is no stranger to recent meetings between Bullets and Kamuzu Barracks, having officiated the last two competitive encounters between the sides.

He was the referee when The People’s Team defeated the soldiers 2-1 in the FDH Bank Cup quarterfinal at Kamuzu Stadium before taking charge of Bullets’ 2-0 league victory at Civo Stadium later in the season.

Sunday’s appointment will therefore mark the third consecutive Bullets-Kamuzu Barracks fixture officiated by Nkhakananga.

More recently, he was part of the officiating team that oversaw Bullets’ Castel Challenge Cup final triumph over Goshen City Dedza Dynamos in February, serving as reserve referee.

Samuel Fudzulani, First Assistant Referee

Fudzulani returns to a Bullets assignment after serving as first assistant referee during The People’s Team’s FDH Bank Premiership encounter against Blue Eagles at the same venue last month.

Prior to that appointment, he was part of the officiating team that handled Bullets’ Castel Challenge Cup semifinal victory over Mzuzu City Hammers at Kamuzu Stadium in February.

The experienced official has become a familiar figure in Bullets fixtures in recent seasons and will once again be on the line when The People’s Team face Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday.

Strauss Magwaza, Second Assistant Referee

Magwaza will be officiating his third Bullets match in his career when he takes up the role of second assistant referee on Sunday.

His most recent involvement in a fixture involving The People’s Team came on 6 November 2025, when he served as second assistant referee during Bullets’ goalless TNM Super League draw against Blue Eagles at Nankhaka Stadium.

Sunday’s appointment marks his return to a Bullets fixture after more than seven months and only the third involving The People’s Team in his officiating career.

Lackson Chunda, Fourth Official

Chunda will be handling only his third Bullets match when he takes up fourth official duties on Sunday.

His previous appointments involving The People’s Team both came during the 2024 season, when he served as fourth official in Bullets’ Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal second-leg encounter against Civil Service United.

He was also part of the officiating team for Bullets’ historic 2-0 defeat to Creck Sporting Club at Aubrey Dimba Stadium last season.

Sunday’s fixture will mark Chunda’s first Bullets appointment of 2026 and his third overall involving The People’s Team.

Edward Kambatuwa, Match Assessor

Kambatuwa returns to a Bullets assignment having last been involved in a match featuring The People’s Team in November 2023.

On that occasion, he served as first assistant referee during Bullets’ TNM Super League encounter against Blue Eagles at Nankhaka Stadium.

Sunday’s appointment sees Kambatuwa return to a Bullets fixture in a different capacity after being named match assessor for the FDH Bank Premiership clash at Civo Stadium.

His role will involve evaluating the performance of the officiating team and ensuring the required standards are maintained throughout the contest.
