Bullets Reserves return to Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday with an opportunity to turn last weekend’s return to winning ways into the start of a sustained run in the SRFA FINCA Division One League.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves host newly promoted QPL All Stars looking to build on the confidence gained from their 2-0 victory over Nchima United.
The result ended a difficult spell and offered fresh encouragement for one of the competition’s youngest squads.
The immediate challenge is to show that performance was the beginning of something rather than a one-off response.
Consecutive victories would not only strengthen Bullets’ position in the standings but also provide another indication that the defending champions are beginning to find the consistency needed to mount a sustained challenge during the second half of the campaign.
Fresh from promotion out of the Division Two League, QPL All Stars arrive in Blantyre after earning a 2-2 draw against Liberty FC in their previous fixture.
The visitors will be eager to measure themselves against the defending champions as they continue their encouraging start to life in the Division One League.
Saturday’s encounter will also mark the first competitive meeting between the two clubs.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Bullets Reserves coach Henry Kabichi challenged his players to build on the confidence gained from last weekend’s victory while remaining committed to the playing principles and development philosophy that underpin the club.
“The boys responded very well in our last match and that victory gave us confidence going into this weekend’s game,” said Kabichi.
“We are expecting a tough contest because every team wants to do well against Bullets, but our focus remains on ourselves and how we approach the game.”
While another victory remains the immediate objective, Kabichi insists the bigger picture has not changed.
Every match provides another opportunity for young players to develop, grow in confidence and move closer to the demands of senior football.
“We want to continue improving as a team, keep developing our young players and collect maximum points. The target is to record another win and continue moving in the right direction in the league.”
Victory on Saturday would make it consecutive league wins for Bullets Reserves and reinforce the momentum generated by last weekend’s return to winning ways.
Against a newly promoted QPL All Stars side eager to make its mark, Kabichi’s young team now have the opportunity to show that they are beginning to build the consistency needed to keep moving in the right direction as the league campaign unfolds.
