FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Wedson Nyirenda has provided an update on Sheku Sheriff and Tinaye Tsimba as Bullets prepare to face Silver Strikers on Saturday.
Our new signings will not feature in Saturday’s FDH Bank Premiership first-round finale against Silver Strikers at Mpira Stadium, Nyirenda has disclosed.
Sheriff and Tsimba joined The People’s Team on two-year contracts and were unveiled last week before the league paused for the Airtel Top 8 final.
The Liberian midfielder and Zimbabwean forward have both been cleared to work in Malawi and received their International Transfer Certificates this week as they build towards their first appearances in red.
However, Nyirenda confirmed during his Thursday pre-match press conference before the Silver clash that the pair will be available for selection at the start of the second round.
“They have settled very well and are looking very good, but unfortunately they will not feature in this game,” said the head coach.
“We will start with them in the second round because we want them to adapt to the team. We did not want to rush them, but they are looking better.”
Sheriff brings another creative option to midfield, while Tsimba adds fresh competition across the attacking line as Nyirenda continues shaping his squad for the second half of the campaign.
Their first opportunities to represent Bullets are now set to arrive during the second round, when the pair will look to begin making their mark in red.
Victory over Silver would lift Bullets from fourth to the summit on 30 points, one clear of the Central Bankers and Mighty Wanderers. The Nomads and third-placed Blue Eagles will not return to league action until they meet on 19 September, with Wanderers engaged in the CAF Champions League over the next two weekends.
Kick-off is scheduled for 14:30.
