Bullets head coach on Paul Master’s readiness

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda has shared an update on midfielder Paul Master’s progress as he continues to build fitness with The People’s Team.

Master, who officially joined Bullets on 30 May following his departure from Blue Eagles, has been in training with his new teammates since arriving at the club.

Addressing the media during Thursday morning’s pre-match press conference ahead of the Airtel Top 8 semifinal against Karonga United, Mponda was asked about the player’s status.

“He is a good player, but in terms of fitness, he’s still far [from ready] because he stayed a long time without training at Blue Eagles. However, what we’re seeing in training is very encouraging and positive,” Mponda said.

The former Bullets and Flames captain stressed that Master’s inclusion in matchday squads will depend on his fitness levels.

“He will be back on the pitch and play once his fitness reaches the level where he can compete. For now, he’s training with the team, and we are monitoring his progress closely,” he added.

The defending champions will be looking to book a place in the Airtel Top 8 final as they face Karonga United at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday evening.
