Alick Lungu’s opener against MAFCO in the TNM Super League has won the Precious Medical International Goal of the Month award for April.
He becomes the first winner of the GOM this season after netting that stunner in our 4-0 victory against the military side at Kamuzu Stadium on 24 April.
The left-back, who grabbed a brace in the fixture and both goals were nominated for the April Goal of the Month, was facing competition from Lanjesi Nkhoma’s strike in the same match.
Lungu, who had been in fine form since the start of this campaign before picking up an injury two weeks ago, ran with the ball into the final third and unleashed a delicious strike of which the visitors’ goalkeeper Blessings Kameza could only make way for the ball to find the back of the net and give us an early lead.
His second goal in the same match, our third that afternoon, became second according to the supporters’ votes, while Nkhoma’s effort, the final goal in our 4-0 demolition of MAFCO in this first round of the 2023 campaign, finished third.
Congratulations on your win, Alick, and thank you to everyone who voted!
