Babatunde wins August Men’s HTD Player of the Month award

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets striker Babatunde Adepoju has been voted the August Men’s HTD Player of the Month following a sensational run of form that saw him contribute directly to 10 goals in just three matches.

The forward secured 41.59% of the total fan vote to finish ahead of Chikumbutso Salima, who claimed 31.19%, Innocent Nyasulu 20.80%, and Paul Master 6.42%.

Babatunde’s August Heroics

Babatunde was on fire throughout August, producing standout performances that helped The People’s Team surge back to the summit of the TNM Super League table and progress to the Round of 16 in the FDH Bank Cup.

He started the month by coming off the bench in our 1-0 away win against Mafco FC on 4 August, where his presence disrupted the opposition’s backline and freed up space for Salima to score the winner.

On 17 August, Baba ran riot in the FDH Bank Cup Round of 32 as Bullets cruised to a 5-0 victory over Chilumba Barracks at Chitipa Stadium. He scored four goals and provided one assist in a dominant display that earned him widespread praise.

In the league, he continued his fine form with another goal from the penalty spot in a 2-0 win over Chitipa United on 23 August, before wrapping up the month with a brilliant brace and an assist in a 3-1 triumph against Songwe Border United on 27 August in Karonga. His contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.

Across the month, Babatunde tallied eight goals and two assists, featuring in all five matches played by Bullets — four in the league and one in the cup.

Salima and Nyasulu Nominated Again

August’s nominees also featured two consistent performers from the previous month — Chikumbutso Salima and Innocent Nyasulu, both earning back-to-back nominations, with Salima having claimed the July POTM award.

Salima’s two goals, electric wing play, and ability to win decisive fouls and penalties were key to Bullets’ unbeaten month, while goalkeeper Nyasulu’s reliable hands and crucial saves — including a penalty stop against Songwe — kept The People’s Team in control at the back.

Midfielder Paul Master also made the shortlist thanks to his midfield presence and contributions in the wins over Mafco, Karonga United, Chilumba and Chitipa, although he missed the final game against Songwe due to suspension.

Recognition For A Striker In Form

Babatunde’s award is a reflection of not just goals, but impact — with each of his contributions proving decisive in the club’s five-match unbeaten run in August.

It is the Nigerian’s first HTD Player of the Month award of the 2025 season, and one well deserved based on his commanding displays in both league and cup fixtures.

Congratulations, Baba!
