Clyde Senaji, Ernest Petro and Lanjesi Nkhoma are in the running for the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month award for May.
The People’s Team walked out of the month of May with a four-game unbeaten run which saw us collecting 10 points, scoring 10 goals, conceding only twice, and being able to keep two clean sheets.
A 3-1 home win over Moyale Barracks on 6 May was followed up by a 2-0 win away to Bangwe All Stars on 12 May before being held to a 1-1 draw away to Civil Service United nine days later.
Having dropped two points, we produced a perfect 4-0 win over Red Lions on 28 May in what was the final fixture of the month.
In the inner mix of that incredible run, the trio played a real part that propelled the club’s technical panel to make them the suitable nominees for the monthly award.
We take a look at the involvement of the nominees in May action.
Clyde Senaji
For the two clean sheets in the four matches we played in May, Senaji demands the team’s gratitude to his name. The centre-back was our true shield and proved to possess remarkable capabilities to walk us through unscathed when under siege.
The Kenyan featured in all the matches we have played in May. In the 4-0 victory over Red Lions, the solid and relaxed defender was voted Man of the Match.
Lanjesi Nkhoma
Simply talismanic, our winger Lanjesi Nkhoma proved to be for us in May. He finished the month with four goals from four matches and also racked up two assists.
For the first half of the month, the winger was voted Man of the Match award against Moyale in the first week and then against Bangwe in the week that followed.
Ernest Petro
Consistently for so long now, the central midfielder has been the horse in our team and during the month of May his work rate was at its usual best.
Petro ticked all boxes and covered every foot of the pitch to keep Maule in good shape to collect results in the past month.
Such performances which saw him once involved in a goal build-up have him on the three-man list for Player of the Month for May.
