Mwaungulu wins TNM Super League Player of the Month

Patrick Mwaungulu has been named as the TNM Super League’s Zampira Fans’ Player of the Month for October 2022.

It continues to be a debut season to remember for the Nyasa Big Bullets’ fledgling midfielder.

This latest accolade comes three months after the youngster won Bullets’ Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month for June.

The 20-year-old got most of the supporters’ votes, beating Silver Strikers’ Chawanagwa Kaonga, Ekwendeni Hammers’ Chawanangwa Gumbo, Blue Eagles’ Gaddie Chirwa, and Civil Service United’s Patrick Phiri.

Mwaungulu featured in three of the five TNM Super League matches The People’s Team played in the month of October. He was on the scoresheet against Silver Strikers at the Bingu National Stadium on 9 October with a fabulous strike from outside the box which could have been the winner had Bullets not surrendered their lead later in that match to draw 2-2.

Six days later he was in fine form as well as he grabbed an assist when Bullets shared the points with Blue Eagles after playing out a 1-1 draw at the Kamuzu Stadium.

As it stands now, the youngster has his goal tally at eight and bewilderingly he has eighteen assists to his name in the league.

This is the first ever TNM Super League Zampira Player of the Month award for Mwaungulu to win and surely it will only get him spurred to continue flying in his debut season with the first team following his promotion from the reserves.

Next for him

After being rested during Bullets’ TNM Super League 1-0 loss away to Mafco on Sunday, Mwaungulu is expected to make a return to Kalisto Pasuwa’s team when it faces Karonga United in the 2022 Airtel Top quarter-final match at the Kamuzu Stadium this Saturday.
