Salima crowned July men’s HTD Player of the Month

The Red Army has spoken – Chikumbutso Salima is your July Men’s HTD Player of the Month, storming to the award with 50.14% of the votes after a month of match-winning magic.

July saw Salima at his electrifying best. In Rumphi, he broke the deadlock against Mzuzu City Hammers before turning provider for Hassan Kajoke’s clincher, sealing a crucial away win that kept Bullets in the title race. A week later in Mponela, with the game hanging in the balance, he rose highest to head home the only goal against Mafco FC in a tense, hard-fought encounter.

In the Airtel Top 8 Final against Silver Strikers, Salima’s fearless burst into the box won Bullets an early penalty, setting the tone for a dramatic afternoon that ended with another trophy in the cabinet.

The race for July’s accolade saw goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu finish second with 34.14% after a series of stunning saves, including two clean sheets and a vital penalty stop in the Airtel Top 8 Final. Defensive stalwart Blessings Mpokera claimed third spot with 12.89% thanks to his consistency and leadership across the backline, while forward Ephraim Kondowe – scorer of the winning penalty in the Top 8 Final – finished fourth on 2.83%.

706 supporters took part in the poll, underlining the fans’ passion for recognising the players driving Bullets’ push for silverware.

The HTD Player of the Month Award celebrates individual brilliance in all competitive matches, with the winner chosen entirely by the fans. For July, the verdict is clear – Salima’s speed, skill and decisive contributions made him the standout star.

With the final match of the first round of the TNM Super League set for this Sunday, the challenge is on: can Salima keep this blistering form, or will a new hero rise in August?
