Henry Chiwaya delighted with first Bullets goal

Henry Chiwaya could not hide his delight after netting his first goal for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in Saturday’s 2-0 TNM Super League win away to Chitipa United.

The 25-year-old left-back, who joined The People’s Team at the start of the season, rose highest to power home a header in the first half, before Babatunde Adepoju sealed the victory from the penalty spot late in the game.

Speaking to Bullets Media, Chiwaya said the moment was special.

“I’m very happy with my contribution today. Scoring my first goal for Bullets is a proud moment for me, and the fact that it helped us secure three important points makes it even better,” he said.

Chiwaya explained that the team’s response after drawing 3-3 with Karonga United in the final game of the first round gave him and his teammates extra drive.

“That draw pushed us to work harder. The coach told us to stay focused on winning and to block out all the noise. Today we showed our resilience, and personally, it feels great to be part of it.”

The defender was also quick to credit his teammates for their role in his landmark goal.

“It wasn’t just about me. The support from my teammates was massive, and everything came from our teamwork. Without them, the goal doesn’t happen.”

Looking ahead, Chiwaya believes this is just the beginning.

“I need to keep working hard for myself and for the team. This club gives me a great platform to improve, and I know the best is yet to come. The goal boosts my confidence, and I want to contribute even more going forward.”

The People’s Team, who arrived in Chitipa a week ago and went on to defeat Chilumba Barracks 5-0 in the FDH Bank Cup Round of 32, will remain in the North for another league fixture against Songwe Border United at Karonga Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
