Bullets Reserves to face FOMO in 2025/26 season opener

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves are set to begin their 2025/26 ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League campaign with an away match against FOMO Reserves at Mulanje Park.

The opening game of the season is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, and this highly-anticipated clash not only signals the start of a fresh campaign but will also mark the first competitive outing under the stewardship of our reserves’ newly appointed head coach, Heston Munthali.

A former Bullets and Malawi forward, Munthali assumed his role in February, succeeding Enos Chatama.

Tasked with upholding our reserves’ proud tradition of developing elite talent, Munthali has eagerly embraced the challenge, with a well-disciplined tactical approach and a determined vision for the future.

Sharing his thoughts ahead of the new campaign, Munthali expressed confidence in his team’s pre-season work and readiness.

“It’s a privilege to begin this journey with such a team,” he told the club’s media. “The players have put in tremendous effort during pre-season, and I’m impressed by how quickly they’ve adapted to the changes. An away match at FOMO should not be straightforward, but we’re prepared to give our all and aim for a strong start. It’s a new season, a fresh chapter, and every individual in this squad understands the stakes. Our focus is on hitting the ground running and building momentum.”

When questioned about his expectations for the season, Munthali remained optimistic and ambitious.

“Our priority is to develop these young players while remaining competitive for trophies. This first game sets the tone, and securing three points would be the perfect way to launch our campaign.”

In his mission to strengthen the squad, Munthali has enhanced his team with strategic signings, focusing on young talents with the potential to break into the first team.

The former vice-coach of the first team has so far brought in two defenders, Mtende Stago and Prince Chiumia, along with defensive midfielder Matthews Nkunika and strikers Kondwani Chaula and Movic Banda.

Munthali is confident that these new additions have seamlessly integrated with the squad’s existing core.

“We’ve successfully integrated the new faces into the team, and I’m pleased with the harmony they’ve developed. It’s a long season ahead, and there will be opportunities for everyone to make an impact,” he stated.
