The start of the 2025/26 ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League has been delayed yet again.
The Premier Division season, initially scheduled to kick off on April 26 before being postponed to May 3, will now officially begin on May 4, according to Week 1 fixtures released by the Southern Region Football Association.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves will take on FOMO Reserves in the league opener away at Mulanje Park Stadium on Sunday, with the kick off set for 14:30.
After securing third place finishes in both 2023 and 2024, our reserves enter the new season highly motivated to fight for the regional Southern Region Football League Premier Division title, which they last won in 2022.
Commenting on the postponement, our reserves head coach Heston Munthali said: “From a coaching perspective, these changes are good for us. We haven’t had as much time as we would have preferred to prepare for the season. We require about eight weeks for thorough preparations, we’ve only had six. So, on the positive side, the revised schedule does afford us a bit more time to fine-tune a few other areas.”
