Bangwe 0-2 Bullets: Kalisto Pasuwa’s reaction

Kalisto Pasuwa believes FCB Nyasa Big Bullets should have scored more goals against Bangwe All Stars at Mpira Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Bullets were in total control of the first half and scored two quick goals in the opening 20 minutes through Lanjesi Nkhoma to win 0-2 away from home.

But instead of going for more against the Mabvuto Lungu side, Maule slowed down and were second on the ball throughout the final half of the match.

Reacting to the result, Pasuwa said his charges should have kept on going instead of relaxing.

“A very good game which we started very well, especially in the first 30 minutes of the match and we were knocking the ball around between the spaces, especially to our left side where we had freedom and we could have scored more than five goals, but the players started playing negative football instead of attacking the opposition, something which should have been avoided,” reacted the head coach after the final whistle. “But all in all, we got the result.”

He praised the opposition for making his charges run for their money, as predicted by the gaffer during the pre-match interview on Wednesday.

“Well done to the opposition for pressing on us and making us sweat throughout the second half. They played with shape and restricted us from building from the back. We got the victory, but they were ready for us and gave us a good game.

“They came very hard on us and played behind the spaces and my boys also made things very difficult for themselves when they kept on trying to build from the back yet they were counter-pressed, this is something which we will try to rectify when we regroup for training next week.”

Pasuwa also commented on his squad depth and is pleased that anyone in the team can play in the absence of the other.

“We are building a team where we have two or three players competing for the same starting slot and if anyone is injured, we have someone ready to take over so that we don’t experience any changes to our starting XI. I am happy and I remain hopeful that we will keep on improving.”

The win on Friday saw The People’s Team opening a three-point lead at the top of the standings ahead of Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, who have 10 points and a game in hand each.
