Head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has provided an update on the players who will remain on the sidelines ahead of Sunday’s TNM Super League fixture against Extreme FC at Kamuzu Stadium as well as miss our CAF Champions League first preliminary round two-legged tie against Dragon FC of Equatorial Guinea.
The People’s Team has been hit with injuries as several players have been out for several weeks, and now the latest being Hassan Kajoke, who was stretchered off minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute against Mafco FC at Chitowe Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Pasuwa spoke to club media on Friday and exclusively issued the following update.
Hassan Kajoke
The striker came in as a second-half substitute before suffering a deep cut to his leg as we drew 0-0 away to Mafco during the TNM Super League midweek fixture.
Following his assessment by the club medical team, our number 9 has been given two weeks to recover and return to full fitness and he will miss Sunday’s game as well as both legs in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round against Equatorial Guinea’s Dragon FC in Malabo and Lilongwe on 20 and 27 August, respectively.
Alick LunguÂ
The left-back suffered a fracture to his leg during training a fortnight ago and after undergoing an MRI scan, he was put in a POP and is likely to be out of action for six to seven weeks before starting his rehab ahead of a return to full fitness.
Mike MkwateÂ
The attacking midfielder continues his recovery process after he suffered a tibiofibular fracture to his right leg during the Castel Challenge Cup against Silver Strikers in July. Following the impact of the injury, Mkwate will not be available for Bullets for the majority part of the current season.
Ernest PetroÂ
Our number 10 last played for the club in the goalless Blantyre derby against our cross-town rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in which he got injured to his knee.
The positive news is that Petro is back on the training pitch but still under observation from the medical team ahead of our busy schedule in domestic and international engagements.
He is likely to be available for selection when we play Extreme FC on Sunday.
Stanley BilliatÂ
The winger suffered a knee ligament injury and has been given four weeks to recover. He started his recuperation process last week and is expected to make a return in mid-August.
