Wongani Lungu, Lloyd Aaron, Nickson Nyasulu and Babatunde Adepoju have been nominated for the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month for December.
The People’s Team played six matches in the final month of the year, securing five victories and suffering one defeat via penalty shootout after a goalless draw.
As you take your time to choose your standout performer, here’s a quick look at how each nominee fared.
Wongani Lungu
He featured in all the games we have played this month and did so with distinctive performances.
Against Hilltop United in the Round of 16 of the Castel Challenge Cup, the midfielder was voted Player of the Match following a bossy display at Mzuzu Stadium.
A few days later, the former Mzuzu City Hammers captain scored a stunning strike from the edge of the box in our 1-3 win over MMF Marines in the quarter-finals of the competition at Dedza Stadium.
Nickson Nyasulu
As he has been throughout this season, the centre-back enjoyed quite a stellar December.
He never missed a match for us in the closing month of the season, proving himself a true stalwart in keeping the opposition at bay.
In our 1-0 win over Kamuzu Barracks, our reserves graduate was voted Player of the Match.
No wonder, Nyasulu is in the line for the Player of the Season award which will be presented at the club’s First Capital Bank Red Carpet event scheduled for 23 December at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre.
Lloyd Aaron
The Malawi regular had a strong finish to the season appearing in all our December matches with strong outputs.
He opened the scoring in our 1-3 win over MMF Marines with a fabulous strike from outside the box.
The midfielder was the Player of the Match with that performance. His consistency in remaining calm under pressure has been impressive throughout December matches.
Babatunde Adepoju
The striker was involved in all our December games and made a significant contribution.
Baba finished the month with two goals, scoring in our 2-0 away TNM Super League win over the now-relegated FOMO FC.
When we hosted Karonga United, our top scorer this season, grabbed a brace of assists.
Having performed well throughout the just-ended season, the Nigerian striker has also been nominated for the Player of the Season award.
