FCB Nyasa Big Bullets winger Lanjesi Nkhoma was the biggest winner at the 2024 Airtel Top 8 awards after he scooped both the Player of the Tournament and the Top Goal Scorer at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre on Tuesday night.

Our best scorer in the previous campaign received the two prestigious accolades a week after he was named Player of the Tournament for the inaugural Castel Challenge Cup.

To bag the latest award for the best player in the Airtel Top 8, the 24-year-old pacey attacker defeated teammate Maxwell Phodo and Mafco FC’s goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa.

Nkhoma also won the Golden Boot for the second time after he shared the award with Chiukepo Msowoya and Clement Nyondo in the 2022 edition.

In the 2023 edition, he scored three goals to finish a goal above Hassan Kajoke and Phodo.

He told Bullets media; “I am delighted to bag these awards in a season our team won everything. This is all happening because of the teamwork that we have at Bullets and I would like to thank the technical panel, management, supporters, and fellow players for the support rendered to me last season. I look forward to continuing serving the club so we keep winning as a team.”

In the 2023 season, he made 44 appearances across all competitions, scoring 20 goals.

Winning the Player of the Tournament, Nkhoma becomes the second Bullets player to walk away with the top prize after Patrick Mwaungulu’s success in the TNM Super League in which he won the Player of the Season award.

Nkhoma is a Bullets Reserves product who earned his promotion at the start of the 2021 season.
