Wongani Lungu, Chawanangwa Gumbo and Chikumbutso Salima will be available for the Sapitwa 4 Season Three tournament taking place this weekend in Mulanje.
The FCB Nyasa Big Bullets trio has been released by Malawi national team coach Kalisto Pasuwa, as the Flames depart for Tunisia ahead of Monday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against The Eagles of Carthage in Radès.
Pasuwa has named five Bullets players in his 23-man Flames squad, which travels to Tunis on Friday, mere hours after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Namibia in Lilongwe on Thursday night.
The People’s Team will head to Mulanje Park without goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba, leftback Alick Lungu, midfielders Lloyd Aaron and Yankho Singo, as well as striker Ephraim Kondowe.
Head coach Peter Mponda, who also serves as Malawi’s assistant coach, will also be unavailable due to national team duties. He is joined by our team manager James Chilapondwa and team doctor Felix Mwalule in the Flames camp as our preparations for the 2025 domestic season continue.
The 2025 two-day Sapitwa 4 pre-season tournament, starting Saturday, will also feature Creck Sporting Club, Ekhaya, and Mighty Tigers.
Bullets are set to face Creck Sporting Club on the tournament’s opening day, with the match kicking off at 15:00. A victory would see us advancing to Sunday’s final against the winner of the Ekhaya vs. Tigers clash, which opens the event at 12:30 on Saturday.
