Mujuru scoops first Hubertus Clausius POTM award in 2024

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets defender Colin Mujuru has become the first winner of the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month this season after he was voted as our outstanding performer in April.

The 26-year-old featured for The People’s Team in all the matches we played last month and was named Player of the Match twice, against Chitipa United and Baka City, before being nominated for the monthly club prize, alongside Ephraim Kondowe and Patrick Mwaungulu.

Sponsors of the award, Hubertus Clausius presented the April to our Zimbabwean defender on Friday.

In his first season with Bullets, the centre-half said: “I feel happy and grateful and I want to thank my coaches, teammates and everyone who has made me achieve this. It is not only my efforts, but they always help me to get such recognition.

“This award shows that I am working in the right direction, but it comes with more and more challenges because I have to beat the standard I set the previous month and I have to work extra hard.”

Mujuru, who joined the Malawi champions in March, two months after Bullets completed a quadruple, also commented on Malawi football.

“It’s different from Zimbabwe and its intensity is different from Zimbabwe. It is very competitive and I am very happy and grateful to be here and challenge the other players,” he said.

Hubertus Clausius Malawi Finance Director, Malinda Chinyama, said as sponsors for the monthly award, the company is pleased to bring competition among the Bullets players.

“We have brought competition amongst the players in the team and it’s always good for a player to get such an accolade from a team that won everything last season. We will continue sponsoring the award and we are very happy to associate with such a winning brand. These awards motivate these players and once they are done with football, they will be able to show what they have achieved.”
