Pasuwa delighted with clean sheet against FOMO

Kalisto Pasuwa was delighted to see how FCB Nyasa Big Bullets defended to secure a 2-0 win over FOMO FC in the TNM Super League at Mulanje Park on Sunday afternoon.

Babatunde Adepoju scored in both halves of the encounter to help The People’s Team secure all three points against Elvis Kafoteka’s relegation-threatened side.

The victory came after Bullets bottled a 2-0 lead to draw against Civil Service United away at Civo Stadium on Wednesday, 72 hours after registering a goalless draw against Silver Strikers.

“[It’s] a very good win considering that the last game that we played we drew. We scored two goals and failed to defend at the last minute when we were playing against Civil. But today, we scored two goals and managed possession, and the way we were keeping the ball away from the opposition was good compared to the game against Civil,” the Bullets head coach told journalists after the match.

Pasuwa and his men, third in the standings, travelled to Mulanje 24 hours after Silver Strikers were confirmed the 2024 TNM Super League champions after they defeated Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Bullets, who won a quadruple last season, have been dominant for the last five years before surrendering the title to the Central Bankers this campaign.

However, despite losing the championship, Pasuwa’s men gave it all to claim three points to keep our second-position hopes alive.

“Like I said last time, I advised my players not to look at Silver Strikers’ success this season. Yes, they have won the championship, but I told them [players] to not surrender themselves to the opponents. Remember, we are the most supported team in Malawi. These supporters pay a lot of money to watch our games, to see good football and hence the reason [we] try to win every game we play is because the supporters need to be rewarded for their loyalty,” he commented.

Bullets will face Karonga United on Wednesday at Kamuzu Stadium before completing the 2024 campaign with another game against Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday at the same venue.

Pasuwa’s men will keep fighting for the second slot occupied by The Nomads, who will travel away to Moyale Barracks and Creck Sporting in their final two fixtures.

Recorded 13 draws and three defeats this season, Bullets have 49 points from 28 games, five points behind our rivals in the standings.

Silver won the league for the first time in 11 years and they are the only unbeaten side this term. Peter Mponda’s men travel to Mulanje on Wednesday to take on FOMO.
