Kalisto Pasuwa has provided the latest information on defenders Precious Sambani, Gomezgani Chirwa and forward Hassan Kajoke.
The FCB Nyasa Big Bullets trio has been unavailable for The People’s Team since the start of the season.
Sambani picked up a hamstring injury while in camp with the Malawi National Football Team preparing for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt and missed a majority of pre-season with the club.
Chirwa also sustained similar damage while on national duty. He was ruled out of the Flames’ home match against the Pharaohs at the Bingu National Stadium due to the injury he suffered during the first leg in Cairo.
Kajoke missed Bullets’ pre-season preparations due to personal reasons and joined the rest of the squad two weeks before the start of the season.
Ahead of the trip to Lilongwe for our second away TNM Super League match against Extreme FC on Saturday, Pasuwa issued early team news and told club media that the three remain on the sidelines.
On Precious Sambani
Precious Sambani is in week three of pre-season training and he is responding very well. He will go through the whole pre-season training until week six and after that, we will do some tests on him to see how fit he is to be considered for matchday selection.
On Gomezgani Chirwa
Gomezgani is still under rehabilitation and assessment. He is back in training with the rest of the squad and I think so far so good; he is responding very well. We will do further tests on him in two weeks to see whether he is fit enough to be considered for team selection or not.”
On Hassan Kajoke
We had to do a plan for him to undergo the entire pre-season program and he is now in week five. He has done some tests and I am very optimistic to see him training with the rest of the members [soon].”
Maule have so far played three competitive games in the 2023 season, beating Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 2-1 in the NBS Bank Charity Shield, drawing 1-1 against Silver Strikers and defeating Mafco 4-0 in the TNM Super League.
