Pasuwa’s early team news ahead of Chitipa trip

Kalisto Pasuwa has provided the latest squad update ahead of Bullets’ trip away to Chitipa United for our next TNM Super League fixture on Saturday.

The People’s Team will face the rookies at Karonga Stadium in our first outing up North this term.

Pasuwa confirmed that defenders Nickson Nyasulu and Alick Lungu will not be part of the team to face Chitipa while Gomezgani Chirwa is a major doubt.

Nyasulu and Lungu missed our two previous fixtures against Civil Service United and Red Lions as they recuperate from knee and muscle injuries. Chirwa is on the sidelines due to illness.

But striker Hassan Kajoke has handed Pasuwa a massive boost following his return to full training this week after fully recovering from an ankle injury.

Midfielder Mike Mkwate, who missed Sunday’s 4-0 win over Red Lions due to illness, is also back and part of the squad travelling to the Northern Region.

“Nickson and Alick are still nursing their injuries, but on a positive note, they have started medical rehabilitation under the guidance of our medical team. We will still be monitoring them to see whether they will join the rest of the players next week or still [be] in recovery mode. But we remain optimistic of seeing them back in action for us,” the head coach told Bullets Media on Wednesday.

“Gomegzani is also a major doubt for this game following a viral infection. He trained on Tuesday after playing on Sunday but complained that he wasn’t feeling well hence his omission from the squad. He is also being monitored by our medical team to see his healing progress.

“Mike who also had an infection that kept him out of Sunday’s match is back [and] trained with us and did well. We have a pool of players to select from for this trip.”

Bullets, currently at the top of the TNM Super League table, will be travelling up north for Matchweek 7 intending to collect full points to take our tally to 20 and hope to open a five-point gap or maintain the two-point difference over second-placed Silver Strikers, who are playing Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday.
