Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Kalisto Pasuwa on Tuesday faced club media ahead of our midweek TNM Super League match against Karonga United at the Kamuzu Stadium.
Immediately after the final training session at the Blantyre Sports Club, Pasuwa took us through the team’s preparations for Wednesday’s fixture, which comes a few days after The People’s Team defeated Moyale Barracks to seal the 2022 championship on Saturday. He further discussed the squad he expects to feature tomorrow and also provided an update on Lanjesi Nkhoma, who was stretchered off during our last encounter due to an injury.
Below is every word from the Zimbabwean tactician.
On preparing for the midweek fixture coming four days after playing last Saturday…
“It has been all about recovering and with the little time that we are having, we need to manage our players and get the best out of them in the coming fixture.
On facing a side we recently beat 7-0 in the Airtel Top 8 and whether it is going to be a straw in the park for Bullets…
“We are not taking the game lightly. As you know we last won against Karonga 7-0. We had the same fixture against TN Stars last year where we won 6 and the next three days we went to TN Stars and we came out with a draw. I believe this team (Karonga United) will give us a torrid time when we meet them again. They [must] have done their homework and we expect to see a good game.”
On giving a chance to the fringe players tomorrow considering that the championship has already been won.
“Remember we are building a team and when building a team we need each and every player to be positive in whatever he does, so for one to be positive you can’t be losing games. You need to be mindful in whatever you are doing that you need to be positive. And we hope for the best for them.”
On Lanjesi Nkhoma’s injury…
“Yeah Lanjesi Nkhoma had a knock in the last game that we played. He has been with the doctors and yesterday he trained and today he also trained and we think maybe tomorrow we will see what to expect from him.”
