We understand the magnitude of this game – Senaji

Clyde Senaji says FCB Nyasa Big Bullets players realize the importance of their TotalEnergies CAF Champions League first preliminary round match against Zambia’s Red Arrows at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Malawi champions will play host to their Zambian counterparts in the first leg match before flying to Lusaka for the return leg next Saturday.

“As players, we understand the magnitude of this game. These are games that can change the careers of players. It’s a game of two legs where life can just change as a footballer, so we will approach them with respect but to get a result,” said the Bullets vice-captain.

On preparations, the Kenyan international said Bullets are geared to go.

“We are [good to go]. Like what my coach said, we’re ready to go. We are prepared mentally, physically and tactically and we are in a good place. We are ready for any challenge that Red Arrows will throw at us.”

He is also quick to respond that the current poor run of results in the domestic league will have an impact on the outcome of Sunday’s match.

“It’s normal in life to struggle sometimes. The results that we are currently getting in the league are not what we were hoping for, but this type of game is different from domestic league games because the stakes are high and different. So, we will approach the game with the respect it deserves, the technicality it deserves and I think we are ready.”

He also emphasized the importance of winning the first leg before facing the Airmen in the second leg.

“We need to call upon all Malawians to turn up in large numbers so that we use our home advantage and make them see that they are playing away from their home. We need the fans to rally behind us tomorrow before playing them again in Zambia.”
