Six of our stars have earned call-ups to Malawi’s 27-member women’s squad set to face Lesotho in back-to-back international friendlies.
The two matches are scheduled for 29 and 31 August 2025 and will be played at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
This milestone marks the highest-ever contribution by FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women to the national team in recent years.
Goalkeeper Thokozani Mwase, defenders Bernadetta Mkandawire, Trizza Chiwere, and Sharon Dzimau, midfielder and captain Zainab Kapanda, alongside forward Mary Chavinda, have all been included in Coach Lovemore Fazili’s squad.
Mkandawire and Kapanda have established themselves as regulars at this level, while Chiwere earns her maiden senior call-up. Mwase, Dzimau, and Chavinda make welcome returns to the fold after time away from the national setup — a reflection of the Maule Ladies’ impressive performances in the NBM Women’s Premiership campaign which kicked off last month.
Bullets Women head coach Maggie Chombo expressed her delight at the news, describing it as a proud moment for the team:
“As a coach, I am very happy that our team has contributed six players to the national squad. This is a big achievement not only for the girls individually but also for Bullets as a club. It shows the hard work being done here is being recognised at national level.
To those who have been selected, I say congratulations — go and represent us with pride. To those who haven’t, this should be motivation. Keep working, keep believing, because every player’s moment will come. We are a family, and when one shines, we all shine.”
From the NBM Women’s national league action to now flying the national flag, Maule Ladies are writing a new chapter in women’s football.
As six of our players prepare to wear national colours, the rest of the squad keeps their eyes firmly on the league, where the push for a top-four spot continues.
