2026/27 season kick off date confirmed

The countdown to the 2026/27 season is officially on. Malawi’s new football campaign kicks off on 18 April 2026 with the Charity Shield — and for The People’s Team, it begins with a derby.

The flagship FDH Bank Premiership follows a week later on 25 April 2026, with the season concluding on 21 March 2027 as Malawi football transitions to the new August–May calendar cycle.

We open the season against our rivals Mighty Wanderers in the Charity Shield — the first derby of 2026/27. The Nomads earned their place after winning the 2025 TNM Super League, while Maule booked ours by lifting the Castel Challenge Cup.

Although Wanderers claimed last season’s derby bragging rights with three wins from three — completing a league double and eliminating us in the semifinals of the FDH Bank Cup — a new campaign presents a fresh opportunity to write the next chapter.

A new season. Silverware on the line. The first Blantyre derby of 2026/27. Let the battle begin.

Maule headed into the off-season break this week full of momentum, having sealed the 2025/26 campaign in style with a 2-1 victory over Goshen City Dedza Dynamos to lift the Castel Challenge Cup last Saturday. The triumph followed our Airtel Top 8 Cup success, a semifinal finish in the FDH Bank Cup, and a strong second-place finish in the TNM Super League.

With the new campaign approaching, Maule will resume preparations next month as we begin our pre-season programme. Specific reporting dates and schedule details will be announced in due course.

The transfer window in Malawi officially opens on Sunday, 1 March, signalling the start of squad strengthening ahead of the 2026/27 season. Bullets are expected to strengthen key areas of the squad as preparations intensify for the new campaign.

The road to the new season begins now. And we take it together.
