Kajoke favourite to win FDH Bank Cup Golden Boot

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets forward Hassan Kajoke is the favourite to win the 2023 FDH Bank Cup Golden Boot after he netted his fourth goal during our 5-1 hammering of Dedza Dynamos in the semi-final match at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

In front of thousands of Bullets faithful, the forward came in as a first-half substitute to replace Chinedu Okafor and scored the second goal to take his tally to four goals, a goal ahead of Mafco’s Zikani Sichinga, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers’ Chiukepo Msowoya and Civil Service United’s Binwell Katinji.

Kajoke opened his 2023 FDH Bank Cup campaign account with a brace when we defeated Ndirande Stars 4-0 in the round of 32 at Kamuzu Stadium. He was also on target in our 3-0 victory over Balaka FC away in Balaka in the next stage of the competition.

The 23-year-old striker, who won the 2020/21 TNM Super League Golden Boot with 15 goals, says he will give it all to win the award that was scooped by our former forward Babatunde Adepoju last season.

“My target is to win the award. It will not be easy but I am optimistic that it will happen. We have one more game to play and it’s against Mafco in the final. It’s a crucial game because we also need to defend the cup, so we will try to do it for the club and at the same time, target to have the award remain at Bullets since it was also won by Babatunde last season,” he told club media.

A goal in his next game will match the five-goal tally scored by Babatunde, who won the award after finding the back of the net five times in the previous edition.

Kajoke’s closest competitor in the race this campaign is Mafco’s Sichinga, who will feature in the cup final slated for 8 October at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Apart from Kajoke, Patrick Mwaungulu and Anthony Mfune are also contenders having scored two goals in this competition.

Bullets is the highest-scoring team in this prestigious national competition with 13 goals, seconded by Wanderers with 11 goals. In the four games leading to the final, The People’s Team only conceded two goals.
