We return to Kamuzu Stadium for the first time in three months as we host to Mighty Tigers in our second TNM Super League game in the 2024 season.
Kalisto Pasuwa’s men will be searching for their first win of the campaign after they surrendered a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 away to Dedza Dynamos in the opening fixture at Dedza Stadium seven days ago.
This afternoon, Bullets have to overcome a side that will also be looking for a win following their 3-1 loss at the hands of the newly promoted Creck Sporting Club in Lilongwe.
Form Guide
The People’s Team gave away a lead to draw 1-all against Dedza Dynamos in the opening fixture, a match which we dominated, but failed to register our first win at a facility we are winless in all our three visits.
As for Leo Mpulura’s side, they got hammered 3-1 by Creck SC to start their campaign on a bad note. They are the only team to have conceded more goals on the opening day of this new season.
Tigers’ form in pre-seasonÂ
They played three games in readiness for the new term. Their first game saw them beating Anzeru Town Hammers 2-0 through Billiat Ligomeka and Harrison Kapata.
Kau Kau then met FOMO FC in the Betika Sapitwa 4 Bonanza and a lone strike from Precious Chipungu was enough to give them a hard-fought 1-0 victory to book a spot in the final and lost 2-1 to Bangwe All Stars. Zikani Munthali scored their consolation goal.
Head-to-Head
Over the last 14 years, the two teams have met 28 times in the elite league. The defending champions have registered 18 wins, losing twice, drawing nine times while scoring 45 goals and conceding 16.
The biggest win over Tigers came in the first round of the 2022 season when Pasuwa’s men thrashed the visitors 5-0 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Kau Kau’s last win over Bullets was in November 2011 when they defeated us 3-0 in the league. Since that loss, Bullets had been collecting all points until the first round of the 2023 season when the spoils were shared following a 1-1 stalemate.
Bullets’ Form at Kamuzu StadiumÂ
The last time we tested a defeat in the league at Kamuzu Stadium was on 26 September 2021 when Vincent Nyangulu’s first-half goal condemned Bullets to a 1-0 loss in the Blantyre derby against our rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers. After that, we have recorded 19 victories, 10 draws and no loss.
Team News
Maxwell Phodo is the new name on the injury list as he is expected to be out of action for six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury during our 1-1 draw away to Dedza Dynamos last Saturday.
As disclosed during his Thursday press conference, Pasuwa is also expected to be without several players this afternoon after missing training during the week due to illnesses.
