Inside Bullets this week

Share

It’s a fresh week with plenty of action for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets beginning Wednesday.

The first team will have the busiest week, with the defending champions scheduled to play two games within 96 hours.

Our women’s side will return to action in the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League while the Under 19s will seek to continue their perfect start to the 2024 league campaign

We give you a lowdown on what lies ahead for The People’s Team this week.

First Team

As the search for our first TNM Super League win since May continues, we host FOMO FC at Kamuzu Stadium midweek.

It’s a game that will allow Kalisto Pasuwa’s men to make amends after we registered our eighth draw of the season following a 1-1 stalemate against Civil Service United on Sunday.

With just three victories in 12 matches this term, this is not the start the defending champions hoped for going into the new campaign, sitting fifth in the table with 17 points.

Only a win on Wednesday will keep the 2023 quadruple winners’ sixth successive title ambitions alive but have to overcome a resilient side that will also come guns blazing to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat away to Karonga United at the weekend.

Out of six home matches this season, we have only won twice, losing once and recording three draws.

After Wednesday’s game, Pasuwa and his men will be on the road for another crucial league encounter against Karonga.

Our last visit to the lakeshore district saw us beating Chitipa United 3-0. This was our second league win up the North in a row, having won 1-0 in our final away match of the 2023 season.

Women

Maggie Chombo’s ladies are back in action after months of inactivity. They will face Mighty Waka Waka Tigers Women to kick-start their 2024 FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League campaign on Saturday at a venue yet to be announced.

Bullets Women will be looking to start their title chase on a high to return to glory, having lost the championship to Ntopwa Women last season.

Under 19s

Our developmental side will play Jimmy Zakazaka Academy in their second match of the 2024 FCB Katswiri Under-20 National League.

They opened their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 hammering of Izo Izo Warriors on Sunday.

Unlike the previous season, this season’s third-tier league format has changed as it will be played on a league basis, scrapping off the group stages format.

Our youth team has never won this competition and will be looking to break the jinx of missing out on this national competition, which starts at the regional level before the national phase.

Reserves

They concluded the first round of the 2024 ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League with a 1-all draw away to Mighty Wanderers Reserves on Sunday.

Enos Chatama’s boys are on a break awaiting the second-round fixtures to be released by the Southern Region Football Association.
