Clyde Senaji: Winning is in our DNA

Clyde Senaji is confident that FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are unfazed as we gear up to face Creck Sporting Club at Kamuzu Stadium in the first leg of the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon.

Our captain was speaking as he faced the media on Friday afternoon ahead of the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal first leg match at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Under the guidance of Peter Mponda, the defending champions are the team to beat, having claimed the title twice consecutively and three times overall since the competition began in 2017.

Reflecting on the challenges the team faced at home last season, our Kenyan defender expressed confidence in our readiness to turn the page on what was a disappointing campaign at home last term.

“Our goal is to play as a cohesive unit. We are fully prepared for this competition, and as far as we’re concerned, the trophy still belongs to us. We will do everything to keep it that way.

“As a Bullets player, handling pressure is part of the job. We thrive under big crowds and don’t struggle to perform in packed stadiums. Football always comes with pressure, and playing for Bullets means embracing that challenge. Facing our fans at home, for the first time since last year, will be no different,” he stated.

With the second leg set to take place in two weeks, Senaji emphasizes the importance of securing a victory in the home fixture, reinforcing the team’s deep-seated winning mentality.

“Winning is in our DNA. As players, every game is an opportunity to dominate and succeed, and that’s the mindset our coach instills in us. He wants us to play good football, take charge of each match, and ultimately come out on top. That will be our focus this season”

The People’s Team began the 2025 season on a high note, earning a deserved 1-0 victory over Silver Strikers last week—an encouraging result that sets a positive tone for the reigning Airtel Top 8 champions as we approach Saturday’s game.
