Bullets, Silver set for another Airtel Top 8 Final

The 2025 Airtel Top 8 Cup final will see defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets face Silver Strikers in what promises to be another thrilling showdown at Bingu National Stadium on 12 July.

The final was confirmed following the conclusion of the second semifinal on Sunday afternoon, where Silver edged city rivals Civil Service United 2-1 in the Lilongwe derby. A day earlier, Bullets booked their place with a 2-1 victory over Karonga United under the Saturday night lights.

This upcoming clash will be the third Airtel Top 8 final meeting between the two sides and the sixth overall encounter in the competition. Bullets have come out on top in all previous finals and also claimed a semifinal win, with Silver’s only success against The People’s Team in the competition coming at the quarterfinal stage.

The defending champions are also unbeaten in their last four cup ties against the Central Bankers, regardless of venue—form they’ll look to extend as they target back-to-back Airtel Top 8 titles.

Last season’s final featured the same two sides, with Ernest Petro scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win for Bullets. In a twist of fate, Peter Mponda, now head coach of Bullets, was then in charge of Silver Strikers.

With history, momentum, and bragging rights all on the line, this year’s Airtel Top 8 final is set to deliver another exciting chapter in one of Malawian football’s fiercest rivalries.
