FCB Nyasa Big Bullets captain Lloyd Aaron says lifting his first trophy as skipper is one of the proudest moments of his career after guiding the team to their third consecutive Airtel Top 8 Cup title on Sunday.
Aaron marshalled the side to a dramatic 4-3 victory on penalties against Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The midfielder, who joined Bullets from Civil Service United in January 2024, was handed the captain’s armband in May and has now won his second piece of silverware with The People’s Team — having also lifted the Airtel Top 8 trophy in his debut season.
“I’m very happy to win my first trophy as captain. It wasn’t an easy game, but I’m thankful to the team — we gave it our all. And we can’t forget our supporters — they truly deserve our thanks,” Aaron said.
Aaron featured in all four games of Bullets’ 2025 Airtel Top 8 campaign and was instrumental in midfield during the final. Though substituted in the second half with the score at 1-1, the skipper said he fully trusted the technical panel’s decisions.
“I wasn’t disappointed when I was taken off. As a player, you have to trust the coach’s decisions for the good of the team,” he added.
Reflecting on the journey to the final, Aaron credited the entire squad for their unity and determination.
“Everyone played their part. From the players on the pitch to the bench and the technical team — we were all focused on one goal. I’m proud of how we fought,” he said.
Sunday’s triumph marked Bullets’ third consecutive and fourth overall Airtel Top 8 title, underlining the club’s dominance in domestic cup competitions. With the TNM Super League, FDH Bank Cup, and Castel Challenge Cup still in contention, Aaron believes the team’s hunger for success is stronger than ever.
“This is just the beginning. We’ll keep working hard to bring more trophies home this season,” he concluded.
