FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves produced a ruthless display in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League on Saturday, storming to a 7-0 victory over FOMO at Kamuzu Stadium.
Goals from Vincent Kampira, Misheck Billiat, Movic Banda (brace), Francis Malikebu, Kondwani Chaula and Precious Juma sealed a commanding performance from Heston Munthali’s charges.
Flying Start from the Young Maule
The Reserves started the match on the front foot, carving out an early opportunity just two minutes in.
Movic Banda was beautifully set up by Misheck Billiat, but his effort veered just wide of the upright — a golden chance to give the young Maule the perfect start.
Moments later, the deadlock was broken. Banda initiated another move in the fourth minute, releasing Hadji Steven down the right flank. Steven whipped in a teasing cross that beat the FOMO defence, and Vincent Kampira was perfectly placed to tap home into an empty net for 1-0.
Relentless First-Half Pressure
The hosts continued to fly forward and doubled their advantage in the 13th minute.
Just after seeing one effort cleared off the line following a brave intervention by the FOMO defence, Billiat found himself on the end of a brilliant pass from Kondwani Tebulo and calmly slotted home to make it 2-0.
Bullets’ hunger for goals was evident as they piled on the pressure. Billiat again tested the goalkeeper with a powerful shot after latching onto a clever pass from Francis Malikebu. The rebound fell for a corner, quickly taken by Tebulo to link with Kampira, but FOMO’s defence stood firm to avert the danger.
The third goal arrived in the 28th minute after a beautifully worked team move. Yankho Phiri threaded a precise pass to Kampira on the flank, and his inch-perfect cross was met by Banda, who struck cleanly to make it 3-0.
By the 32nd minute, Bullets were rampant. Malikebu saw his fierce strike tipped behind for a corner, but from the resulting short routine with Billiat, he finished clinically to stretch the advantage to 4-0.
As the half wore on, Bullets continued to dominate every department. On 40 minutes, Billiat tried his luck once again from range, but his effort sailed wide. Still, the Reserves looked dangerous with every attack as they dictated the tempo with confidence.
Halftime: Bullets Reserves 4–0 FOMO
Banda at the Double
Bullets Reserves returned from the break with full control of the contest, carrying their commanding lead into the second period.
Within a minute of the restart, Banda slipped a neat ball through to Steven, but the forward was flagged offside as he looked to get in behind the FOMO defence.
The pressure continued in the 49th minute when Steven set up Malikebu inside the area, but his low strike was well saved by the goalkeeper.
On 61 minutes, Bullets broke through again. Banda doubled his tally for the day with a composed finish, opening the second-half scoring to make it 5-0.
Just three minutes later, the visitors carved out a rare opportunity to reduce the deficit, but Bullets’ defence stood strong inside the box to snuff out the danger and preserve their clean sheet.
Impact from the Bench
Munthali then rang the changes in the 67th minute, introducing Brian Mwase, Anthony Soko, Enoce Hendeman and Prince Chiumia in place of Hadji Steven, Malikebu, Yankho Phiri and Oscar Petro.
By the 72nd minute, Bullets were still piling on the pressure, but FOMO’s defence dug in to keep the hosts at bay. Two minutes later, Banda thought he had broken clear again, only to be flagged offside.
The sixth goal eventually arrived in the 83rd minute, when substitute Kondwani Chaula made an instant impact off the bench, pouncing on a loose ball in the box and firing home to make it 6-0.
Juma Seals a Seven-Star Show
There was still time for more brilliance, and it came in the 89th minute.
Precious Juma picked up possession from distance, spotted the goalkeeper off his line, and produced a composed finish from 35 yards to seal a magnificent 7-0 win for the Reserves.
It was a statement performance at Kamuzu Stadium as Heston Munthali’s side showcased their attacking depth and hunger, leaving FOMO with no answers to the young Maule’s dominance.
