FCB Nyasa Big Bullets forward Hassan Kajoke put on a masterclass in the Castel Challenge Cup final on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium, scoring twice to secure a 2-0 victory over Goshen City Dedza Dynamos.
His second goal came from a penalty he earned after being fouled in the box, helping The People’s Team lift the trophy and finish the tournament with an impressive 12 goals scored and just two conceded.
The brace proved decisive in a tightly contested first half that ended goalless. Speaking after the match, Kajoke said belief and determination were at the heart of the team’s approach.
“First, I thank God for helping us win this cup and for giving me the strength to score two goals that helped the team today. It is always special for any player to score twice in a cup final,” he said.
After a cautious first half, the Bullets returned with renewed energy and purpose.
“It was goalless at half-time, but we knew we had to win. In the second half, we increased our intensity, executed our plan, and scored two goals,” the forward added.
Kajoke acknowledged that the season had its challenges, particularly after missing out on the league title, but said the setbacks only strengthened the squad.
“This season did not go as we planned because we lost the league, but that is football. It did not drag us down. Instead, it gave us confidence to work harder in the remaining games, and we managed to win two cups,” he said.
He also praised the special atmosphere at Bingu National Stadium, describing it as a venue that gives the team confidence and courage.
“Playing at Bingu feels like home. The supporters’ support lifts us and motivates us to give our best on the pitch,” Kajoke added.
For the striker, lifting the Castel Challenge Cup after such a decisive performance was a personal milestone.
“Winning this cup means a lot to me,” Kajoke said.
His two-goal heroics not only secured the trophy for Bullets but also capped a memorable campaign, reinforcing the club’s status as one of Malawi’s most formidable sides.
