Gilbert Chirwa has provided an early squad update ahead of our second FDH Bank Premiership fixture against MAFCO FC.
The People’s Team return to action looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-2 draw away to Civil Service United, with Sunday’s fixture presenting another important test.
Speaking during his Thursday pre-match press conference, the Bullets head coach confirmed that Frank Willard, Ahamad Kung’unde and Chrispin Mapemba remain sidelined through injury and will miss the upcoming encounter.
He also provided an update on Misheck Billiat, who was stretchered off in the second half against Civil Service United on Saturday, with the winger ruled out of Sunday’s match.
“We’ve had a few injury concerns coming out of the last game. Misheck will not be available for this one, and we’re still without Frank, Kung’unde and Mapemba,” confirmed Chirwa.
Their absence presents a challenge for the technical panel, particularly in maintaining balance and depth within the squad as Bullets look to build rhythm early in the campaign.
There is, however, positive news for The People’s Team, with Mike Mkwate returning to the squad after recovering from injury.
“Mike is back with us—he trained yesterday and today and will be available for selection on Sunday,” said Chirwa.
His return is a timely boost, adding experience and giving the coaching staff more options in midfield ahead of a demanding fixture.
The rest of the squad is reported to be fit and available, with preparations progressing smoothly throughout the week.
Training sessions have been marked by intensity and focus as the team continues to build rhythm and cohesion in the early stages of the campaign.
Chirwa added that the team’s key focus this week has been on converting chances, managing leads and instilling confidence within the squad.
Bullets will look to build on the positives from last weekend’s 2-2 draw while sharpening key areas, with Sunday’s fixture presenting an early chance to gain momentum and set the tone for the campaign.
