Eight FCB Nyasa Big Bullets players have earned call-ups to Malawi’s provisional Under-20 squad ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations COSAFA Qualifier in Mozambique.
Prince Chiumia, Kondwan Tebulo, Madalitso Safuli, Misheck Biliat, Clever Kalambo, Cliford Chisale, Maxwell Sidreck and Jalas Fellix are all included in the provisional squad for the regional qualifiers.
The call-ups come on the back of a strong weekend for several of the selected players, with Biliat, Kalambo and Tebulo starting in Bullets’ emphatic 5-0 victory over Silver Strikers in the FDH Bank Premiership.
Biliat capped his performance by scoring the fifth goal, while Safuli was introduced from the bench. Chiumia, who has become a regular in head coach Wedson Nyirenda’s side, missed the victory through suspension.
Sidreck is currently gaining experience on loan at Bangwe All Stars, while Fellix has continued his development with the club’s Reserves.
The representation underlines the depth of young talent within the Bullets setup, with players from across the club’s teams earning opportunities on the international stage.
The Junior Flames started preparations at Mpira Village on Monday as they begin their build-up to the regional tournament, which will take place in Mozambique from September 18 to 27.
The competition will also serve as the regional qualifying tournament for the CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, with Malawi aiming to secure a place at the continental finals.
