Head coach Wedson Nyirenda is awaiting a final medical assessment on Blessings Mpokera ahead of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ FDH Bank Premiership meeting with Civil Service United at Mpira Stadium on Saturday.
The captain is experiencing knee discomfort, while Chrispin Mapemba continues his recovery and is edging closer to a return.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Nyirenda provided the latest on both players.
“Mapemba’s situation remains the same. He still feels a little pain, but he is very close to returning to the pitch,” said the head coach.
“Then we have Blessings Mpokera, who is experiencing discomfort in his knee. We hope the final assessments from the doctors will be positive.”
Mpokera captained Bullets in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over MAFCO at Civo Stadium, helping the team record a sixth successive league clean sheet.
Nyirenda’s men return to Mpira Stadium at the top of the standings with 36 points from 17 matches, targeting a third successive victory in the second round.
Saturday’s Matchweek 18 encounter kicks off at 15:00.
