Bullets quartet called up for Malawi’s WAFCON campaign

Four FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women players have been named in Malawi’s provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers against Angola, reinforcing the Maule Ladies’ growing impact on the national stage.

The quartet of Thokozani Mwase, Bernadetta Mkandawire, Sharon Dzimau and captain Zainab Kapanda earned the nod after consistent performances in the ongoing NBM Women’s Premiership.

Malawi will play the first leg away on Thursday, 23rd October, before hosting the return fixture on Tuesday, 28th October at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Qualification would mark Malawi’s first-ever appearance at the continental showpiece — a historic milestone for the women’s game in the country.

The selection further highlights Bullets Women’s growing influence on the national setup, with the club continuing to produce top-level talent under Head Coach Maggie Chombo, who also leads the Malawi U20 Women’s National Team.

The provisional list blends local talent with international experience, featuring global stars Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, Montpellier’s Rose Kabzere, and former Bullets Women midfielder Vanessa Chikupira, now playing for BIIK Kazygurt in Kazakhstan.
