Mary Chavinda has been named December’s HTD Player of the Month after a series of decisive performances that propelled FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women up the NBM Women’s Premiership table.
Bullets Women enjoyed an impressive December campaign, playing four matches and recording three wins and one draw, scoring seven goals and conceding four. At the heart of that success was Chavinda, whose influence proved decisive when it mattered most.
The forward scored four goals in just two matches during the month. Against second-placed Ascent Soccer Academy, Chavinda came off the bench after returning from injury and scored twice in the second half, turning a 0–1 deficit into a 2–1 comeback victory.
She followed that up with another match-winning display against Topik Academy in Mzuzu. Trailing by a goal, Chavinda struck twice to secure another 2–1 win, reinforcing her reputation as a reliable game-changer.
Beyond the goals, Chavinda’s energy, work rate, and leadership in the attacking third have been vital in Bullets’ push up the table. Her contributions helped the team climb to third position in the league standings with 31 points, keeping them firmly in the top three as the season approaches its decisive phase.
On an individual level, Chavinda continues to shine. She has now scored seven goals in nine league appearances, making her Bullets Women’s top scorer and one of the most influential forwards in the league.
With confidence high, Bullets Women will look to maintain momentum with upcoming fixtures against Civil Service Women on January 15 at Mpira Stadium, before concluding the season with a clash against Silver Strikers Ladies in Lilongwe.
