Bullets Injury Update: Kajoke back in training

Nyasa Big Bullets striker Hassan Kajoke has this week begun light recovery training.

Kajoke has been on the sidelines following a right foot injury he suffered in training last month and was ruled out for three to four weeks.

“He has made tremendous progress, but we don’t want to rush him. He has joined us [at the training ground] from physio for light training and we will keep monitoring him until we’re fully satisfied that he can join his teammates for full training,” said team doctor Felix Mwalule on Wednesday.

Ahead of the team’s trip to Mzuzu for a TNM Super League fixture against Ekwendeni Hammers, Bullets medical team has also provided a fresh update on other players who have been out due to injuries, including Pilirani Zonda, Henry Kabichi and Lanjesi Nkhoma.

The list also includes goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda, who has not featured for The People’s Team lately due to a finger injury.

The 2019 golden glove winner has not been in goals since 16 January when Bullets drew 1-1 against Ntopwa in the TNM Super League. He was substituted due to a shoulder injury, which he fully recovered before injuring his right ring finger during a friendly match against the same Amagettoh Kids as the two sides were preparing for the resumption of the league that had been suspended as a Covid-19 preventive measure.

“He [Chiyenda] has a hairline fracture. Previous scans done a couple of weeks ago revealed no fracture, but the more recent one has revealed a fracture and he is expected to undergo treatment at the College of Medicine,” explained Mwalule.

On Zonda, who has been out for six weeks, the team doctor revealed:

“Pilirani is set to start individual training away from the team on Monday after recovering from his knee injury.”

On Kabichi, who missed Bullets’ capital city trip last week to face MAFCO due to an ankle sprain he suffered in training two days before departure, the team doctor said “the midfielder will join the team a week after we return from Mzuzu”.

Mwalule went ahead to disclose that youngster Nkhoma, who picked an uncle injury during training a week after coming on as a second half substitute against Mzuzu Warriors almost a fortnight ago in his first team debut, will be on the sidelines for up to five weeks.

“He is unable to bear weight and balancing and he is still having pain on mobilization due to tears to medial and lateral ligaments with tendon involvement. He needs ultrasound therapy for healing, pain management and ankle stabilization,” he explained.

Bullets are also without Righteous Banda who is currently undergoing physiotherapy following a knee surgery, as well as Aziz Mwakifuna, who is nursing an ankle injury. The two midfielders were ruled out for the rest of the 2020/21 season.
