Chikumbutso Salima commits future to Bullets

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets is delighted to announce that Chikumbutso Salima has signed a new two-year contract extension, committing his future to The People’s Team until January 2028.

The 23-year-old, renowned for his blistering pace and attacking prowess, joined Bullets in 2022 from the Lawrence Waya Academy, initially linking up with our reserve side. That same year, he enjoyed a breakout campaign—earning the Reserves’ Players’ Player of the Season accolade and finishing as the top scorer in the FDH Bank Cup.

To accelerate his development, Salima spent the 2023 TNM Super League season on loan at Bangwe All Stars, where he made an instant impression. He scored on his league debut and was named Player of the Match, showcasing the talent that prompted his recall to Bullets ahead of the 2024 season.

Consistent Growth and Combined Impact

Since making his senior debut, Salima has been on a remarkable rise. Across the 2024 season and the current 2025 campaign, he has made a combined 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 18 assists. His creativity, work rate, and direct style have made him one of the most influential players in the squad.

“I’ve Made the Right Choice”

Speaking after signing his new deal, Salima expressed his joy and commitment to the club.

“I’m very happy to commit my future to this club. I’ve made the right choice to remain at Bullets because this is the club that has helped me grow, and I know I still have more to achieve here.”

His decision comes amid external interest and speculation, which the midfielder confidently shrugged off.

“Yes, I saw stories linking me with other clubs, but I paid no attention. My mind was made up. I want to continue developing here and help the club achieve more success.”

Coach Mponda: “He Understands the Value of Loyalty”

Head coach Peter Mponda welcomed the contract extension and praised Salima’s mentality.

“I’m pleased to see Chikumbutso staying. He’s talented, driven, and understands the value of loyalty. He’s enjoying great form, and his decision to stay speaks volumes about his focus and vision.”

The tactician reaffirmed the club’s long-term trust in the player:

“He’s not just part of the present—he’s part of our long-term plan. Players like him are the foundation of what we’re building. Credit to the player and the management for getting it done.”
