Club Statement: Nyasa Big Bullets Village site unveiled

Nyasa Big Bullets on Tuesday finally unveiled the site where the club’s village will be constructed in Blantyre.

Led by interim vice-president Mr. Fleetwood Haiya, Bullets management, representatives of the supporters committee and journalists visited the 13-hector site at Mpemba where a clubhouse, mini stadium, training grounds and offices will be located.

The completion of the facility will see Bullets saving more than K30 million the club spends to pay for training grounds, offices and the gym annually.

Said Haiya: “Currently we are leasing Blantyre Sports Club for the main team’s training sessions and we pay K15 million for the whole year and we are also renting offices at Malawi Post Corporations where we are also paying another K15 million and this is a lot of money which could have been saved if we had our own facilities.

“Basically, apart from making commitments, the Board is looking into the future because if you multiply K30 million times five years, it means the club is spending K150 million in rentals and if we invest this amount of money into building our facility we will not only save but also make money through hiring out some of the amenities at the Bullets Village.”

Nyasa Big Bullets chief executive officer, Mr. Suzgo Nyirenda, expressed excitement about the project.

“First of all, let me thank the Board for this project. This is one of the projects where we are demonstrating that we are ambitious and serious about our commercialization drive. As the vice-president said, we will have facilities like a conference hall where people will be allowed to hire and by the end of the day generating income on our own as a club.”

The Nyasa Big Bullets Village project’s ground-breaking is expected to take place in January 2022.
