FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ sponsors, First Capital Bank, on Tuesday morning hosted The People’s Team at their Training Centre in Blantyre to celebrate the club’s recent Airtel Top 8 Cup success.
In recognition of Bullets’ third consecutive title in the competition, the bank presented each player with K500,000 as a token of appreciation for their role in securing the trophy. Head coach Peter Mponda was specially honoured with K1 million, while team manager James Chilapondwa received K750,000 for their leadership and commitment throughout the campaign.
Bullets sealed their latest Airtel Top 8 crown last month with a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Silver Strikers in Lilongwe. The triumph marked the club’s fourth title in the competition and reinforced their dominance in domestic cup football.
Speaking during the event, First Capital Bank’s Head of Marketing & Communication, Twikale Chirwa, congratulated the team on their hard-fought success and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting Bullets both on and off the pitch.
“The Airtel Top 8 was highly competitive, and the team gave everything to secure the first trophy of the season. Our reward is a way of motivating them to keep fighting for the remaining trophies this campaign. We also salute the Board, Secretariat, and supporters for their tireless efforts in ensuring Bullets’ continued success,” Chirwa said.
Club CEO Albert Chigoga expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as an extra source of motivation for the players and technical staff.
“First Capital Bank have always stood firmly behind this team, motivating and energising the players to perform at their best. This gesture goes beyond the sponsorship package, and as a club, we are truly happy and proud to have them as our partner. This is the greatest sponsorship Bullets has ever enjoyed, and we take immense pride in it,” said Chigoga.
The celebration at the Training Centre also provided a moment to reflect on the journey to this year’s Airtel Top 8 crown and the collective effort behind the achievement.
With the TNM Super League first round concluded — Bullets sitting second on the table — the team now shifts focus to the FDH Bank Cup Round of 32. This Sunday, they travel north to face National Division League side Chilumba Barracks at Chitipa Stadium.
